I Can Lead A Horse To Water…

As a Mom, it is very frustrating when you see such potential in a child and they do nothing with it. For example, I see a talent for swimming. It’s not only I who sees it, a swim team coach noticed it enough that they send an invite to one of my children.

I don’t mind the driving and the waiting. I have my books to read. But when a child would thoughtlessly let me drive half an hour round trip only to announced that they’d rather not go to swim team…right when we’re outside the door to the pool.

I am not really mad, but quite disappointed since there isn’t any other reason than wanting to say no. It’s a power play, I supposed. I just don’t get it, and I am still stump how to deal with it. When I’m not dealing, I stay quiet because I think it’s better than going off in the mouth and saying something I might regret.

It’s All About Time

My husband and I were talking the other day how it seemed redundant to wear a watch because almost every body has a cell phone and they have time stamps on them. I beg to disagree. A watch will never go out of style in my opinion because it’s both a necessity and jewelry. I’ve always been drawn to functional jewelry. It’s like beauty and brains, it beats almost any other combination, really.

Take for example this beautiful watch. I wouldn’t mind getting this Caravelle watch. It’s got crystal that makes it great for dressy occasion yet it is also water resistance up to 30 meters or 100 feet suggesting it’s compatibility with every day usage.  It has adjustable straps which is always an advantage to me because I’m still working on reducing my weight.

My husband would probably prefer something like Casio mens casual sports watch. He cannot live without his stopwatch and countdown timer. He has a couple of weekly classes where he’s always in need of stopwatch. The countdown is for his diet. It’s very helpful in regulating when he can eat next. Time is such an integral part of every body’s routine. Watches will never go out of style.

Only One At A Time

It seems like there’s rule. I can only get one child to face the camera at any single time.

So, I took another one….

and yet another one….

Responsible

We went out to dinner at a family friend. They have 7 children. My husband and I have five. The topic of discussion made it to health, and how we should strive to live long for our children. We’ll exercise, live healthy, and all that. Our family friend said that shopping for life insurance quotes is how he shows his love for his family. He’s slightly overweight, and he loves doing dangerous sports in his down time. Needless to say, his wife wasn’t too thrilled to hear that he won’t give up sky diving just in case of accident. But he did end up buying a hefty life insurance, though. That’s still being responsible, I think.
